The Elder Scrolls Double Review
Oblivion: Remastered & Skyrim: Special Edition or whatever edition Bethesda is on now. Lol!
I love gaming. Long before politics entered my life, I gamed the hell out of my consoles. From Gameboy and DS. To the PS2 and the Gamecube with games like Conflict: Desert Storm 1&2, Freedom Fighters, Mario Kart, and much more. I eventually got an XBOX 360. Anyone remember the old 360 Main Menus?
This brings back so many memories. The new menus are good and fine, but nothing beats the 360 and they had some great games too. Red Dead Redemption 1, The Saints Row Series, the original Call of Duty Modern Warfare Trilogy, and the Black Ops Duology. If you’re like me, then we lived like kings. And now, the games of the hour. The Elder Scrolls Oblivion & Skyrim. I first played them on the 360 and I tried Morrowind, but I’m too dumb for that game and Whilst I loved the other two, I never finished Oblivion and Skyrim was a buggy mess, but I picked them up again now that I have an XBOX Series S and Skyrim has mod support for consoles and I’m well on my way to beating both games. So, enough background. Let’s get into the games.
Oblivion Remastered is an excellent game. Like always you start off as a prisoner, but quickly get pulled into a conflict consisting of Emperors, cults, demons, and a lost heir. And you, the player, will play a big part in saving Tamriel. There’s also so many things for you to explore and “conquer” for lack of a better word. The world is your oyster as the saying goes. You can fight in the Arena and become a champion. You can be a thief or an Assassin for the Dark Brotherhood and Thieves’ Guild. You can join the Fighters Guild and become a warrior of renown seeking glory & honor, and so much more. And, best of all, Sean Bean, Boromir/Sharpe/Ned Stark is in it as well. What’s not to like?
Easy, 9/10 game!
Skyrim: Special Edition, which is what I got for Christmas one year for my old XBOX One, now it feels like a new game with my new system. It crashed like crazy near the end of my XBOX One. So, you all know what Skyrim is about, but in case you don’t. You’re a prisoner about to be executed and through a series of events find out you’re the Dragonborn, basically, the soul of a dragon is a mortal body and it’s up to you to find out why the dragons have returned and to stop Alduin: The World Eater from consuming the world. Along the way, you can play as any class: From One or Two-handed warrior, Archer, Mage, Thief, Stealth Archer (Most runs just morph into a stealth archer run). My preferred play-style is a Two-handed warrior wielding a greatsword, and if you know how, you can make a simple Steel or Skyforge Steel greatsword ridiculously OP. But now, time for the piece de resistance: The Mods.
It’s pretty much a running gag that Bethesda leaches off the back of unpaid modders to keep their games running long after they cycles should’ve come to an end, but good news, modding is great. I’ve never created a mod, but I’ve played with a few and in my current playthrough and they had so much to a pretty old and stale game. Especially the unofficial patch, which basically fixes most of the bugs, glitches, and other “funnies” (Yeah that’s what I’ll call them) in the game. My favorite type of mods are the companion mods. You know: multiple companions, new companions, and “fixing” vanilla ones. There’s also mods that remake the game like redoing the skill trees and making the races more friendly to roleplayers. There’s even a mod that brings back the class system from Oblivion and updates it for Skyrim, which is really cool as well because it allows for to truly roleplay as your chosen character.
So, without mods: 7-8/10. With mods: 10/10!
Well. I hope you enjoyed this review. Feel free to share your thoughts down below and thank you for reading. Peace and God Bless!

lol I waited in front of a GameStop with my friend on black Friday the year it came out for like 3 hours… it wasn’t even on sale, he just wanted to buy it. And I was trying to shop whatever else was on sale. Turns out that location wasn’t even opening lmao. The line was like 50+ people too. We ended up getting it at Walmart, and then starting it up at like 2AM when we finally got back to my house. A lifetime ago it feels like lol. Great game. Thieves Guild is goated
